IV/JG51 Policies, and Codes of Conduct

 Updated 1/14/04

1.  Always promote IV/JG51 in a positive manner, be it through your conduct on-line or a post  you  may put up on various bulletin boards. Remember everything you say or do reflects upon the squad as a whole.

2.  Treat all your squad mates with respect at all times. As more members join the squad there will be personality clashes, don't let them get out of hand.

3.  Bring up concerns or criticisms after a squad meet, not during. Trying to organize a squad meet can be stressful enough, your ideas and input are important but would be better said after the squad meet .

4.  Be on time. If you can't make a squad function or can't be on time, try and let your immediate leader know ahead of time.

5.  If you do show up late understand that the squad may be airborne or engaged.  Do not expect to immediately get all the information that you need.  Staffelkapitans are responsible for informing late pilots in their unit.

6.  If you have ideas for the squadron, share them.  No one is the know all or end all in the squadron.  Everyone's ideas are important.

7.  Squadron leadership positions will be assigned according to participation in the squadron, amount of time devoted to the squadron other than flying and of course based on leadership and flight skills.  Anyone in a leadership position who cannot devote the time and energy needed for the job should be honest and be willing to step aside and help identify someone who can.

8.  Stay with your assigned leader at all times, unless ordered otherwise. He depends on you to be there when he needs you.

9. Pick up whoever is nearest you from your group when you've become separated from your wing leader.

10.  Watch your buddy's six like it was your own. Our prime directive in IL-2FB,  is to stay alive. Lone gunslingers die quickly.

11. TeamSpeak Communication is used by all squad members . All Non-emergency chatter during flight time will be kept to message board.

12.  If you are flying wing on a hunt, the leader has the green light to make the kill.  Do not try to shoot over or under leader.  When his ammo is at 1/2 he will switch to your wing.  This rule does not apply when the only way to save your leader is to fire on a con that has been missed by your leader.

13.  When the flight leader says to return to base, that's what you do!  Clear yourself or a squad mate and head towards coordinates given.   Hanging around for that last kill will find you very alone and playing catch up, or worse, dragging fresh cons to the rest of the squad.

14.  When flying wing or formation, keep your plane at the 4 or 8 o'clock position of leaders plane.  This allows him to see you at all times.

15.  S.O.S. when calling for back-up on TeamSpeak  please start your transmission with your call-sign.  This lets others know where to fly so they can help you.

16.  Scores: To be addressed.

17.  Try to be a few minutes early for a squad meet.  This is one that's hard for all of us to follow, but when possible it is a good habit to get into.  It also allows you to get in a bit of flight time with your bird and/or find out your mission plans.

18. Obtain the required material needed to operate with the squad, i.e. TeamSpeak, mission files, maps, etc.

19.  HAVE FUN!  These rules are so we can keep things smooth and easy for everyone, which, in the long run, makes it a lot more fun.
